For the annual conference of the renowned Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, our client con gressa entrusted us with a multifaceted assignment to realise various communication goals for the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation: Firstly, a promotional clip was to be created from amateur videos of children of the scholarship holders. In the ‘Young Humboldtians clip’, the children are asked what they would like to invent or research themselves.
Der advertising clip should show how they deal with the topics of research and innovation. Their curiosity and enthusiasm should rekindle the motivation of the film's viewers. It also shows the diversity of the Humboldt Network as a global, family-friendly research family.
On the other hand, a pop-up studio was to be set up during the two-day event, in which the scientists would comment on their personal projects in line with the conference motto ‘What's next?’: Which major research questions do they want to address in the future? How can the Humboldt Network continue to help them with their research in the future?
The first step was to set up an online platform where scholarship recipients could submit video clips they had filmed of their children. A total of 65 submissions were received from around the world, which were reviewed and evaluated by our editor Gesine, structured according to theme, and finally edited into an emotional promotional film. The beginning and end of the film were complemented by an animated intro and outro, respectively, and the individual thematic areas were supplemented by animated intertitles. The newly created graphic elements were created and animated in collaboration between editor Gesine and motion designer Mark based on the existing corporate design. The promotional clip premiered at the opening ceremony of the annual conference in front of 1,300 international guests at the Free University of Berlin.
Für die Implementation of the pop-up studio, we first created a 3D visualisation for our client showing the layout and appearance of the studio. In addition to professional 4K camera technology on a camera slider, various energy-saving LED lighting technology and HMI daylight, film props were also planned for the image, including a sofa and plants. Der customer could choose between different props.
After the client's approval, a Sprinter was rented for transport, props and film equipment were borrowed and set up on site. During the two-day event, the scientists were able to answer various questions in front of the camera in a relaxed manner. They were accompanied by our editor Andreas and cameraman Johannes. Our second editor, Michael, edited the resulting short interviews into a 2.5-minute aftermovie.
