10-part social media series on green film production

10 × 1.5-2 min | long version: 1 × 17 min | 2022/23 | 16:9 | HD

1. Intention for the project

As a consistently working sustainable film agency and film production company, green producing and the answers to the question of how it can become even more sustainable in practice are naturally very important to us. So we decided to shoot a web series about it. With a two-person team consisting of a director and cameraman, we traveled by train in Germany with compact 4K camera and energy-saving LED lighting technology. This enabled us to reduce CO2 emissions to a minimum. The filming locations were Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne. Individual interviews were also conducted remotely.

2. Content

In “The Green Cut”, we accompany our former junior producer and filmmaker Kim on her journey through Germany. Kim took a close look at initiatives such as the Green Motion Label. The labels are intended to help make German film production lower in emissions and anchor green filming processes in the German film industry. In the ten episodes, Kim interviewed exciting players from the film industry on this topic.

They include Christiane Dopp and Helge Albers from Moin Filmförderung, Niels Maier † from film equipment distributor Maier Bros, Dirk Jepsen from Oekopol, green consultant and producer Judith Niemeyer from The association of Green Consultants Film & TV.

Among other things, the web series explores the question of what long road it took to establish awareness of green film production in the film industry and how to use resources more sustainably. What are the right tools that filmmakers need to be given in order to create a sustainable impact on the emissions generated during a film shoot?

3. Release

The web series celebrated its premiere in 2023 as a 17-minute long version at the Green Tec Day as part of the 73rd Berlinale. It was subsequently published in ten parts on our own social media channels.
