A documentary film is created in the following steps: topic development and research, followed by planning and preparation for shooting. The director plays a crucial role in realising the vision of the film. Filming can take place over long periods of time because real events are being documented. The editorial team ensures that all content is carefully selected and prepared. This is followed by post-production, where the film is edited, soundtracked and colourised. We transparently coordinate each phase with you to optimally shape the direction.
The length of a documentary can vary greatly depending on whether it is produced for social media or for cinema and television. Short documentaries (e.g. for YouTube) usually last between ten and 40 minutes, while TV documentaries are usually between 45 and 60 minutes long and cinema documentaries between 90 and 120 minutes.
Film production usually takes several months to a year, depending on the subject matter, the depth of research and the required shooting days. We work flexibly to create realistic schedules.
Costs vary depending on the scope and duration of the production. Smaller documentary film projects start at €4,500 net, while more elaborate productions incur higher costs. We will prepare a suitable offer for you based on your requirements and budget.
