The first two wechange conferences, "Dialogue for the Future 2020 and 2021," were held under this motto. What made this event special was its format. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the conference had to be held in a hybrid format, i.e. online and offline. The 2022 and 2023 conferences continued to be held in a hybrid format, but their focus changed in the wake of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. The topics were "Building resilient civil societies and defending democracies in the EU and its Eastern neighbourhood" and "The Future of Eastern Partnership: Empowering Democratic and Sustainable Civil Societies."
As a film agency, we have provided media coverage of the event over the past four years.
To give participants a feel for the organisers and speakers, we spent a day filming interviews for "Dialogue for the Future 2020". The short portrait films show what participants can expect at the conference. Some of the speakers were unable to travel to Berlin due to the pandemic, but we didn't want them to be left out. The solution: online interviews – a challenge we were happy to take on! After our detailed briefing, the interviewees recorded themselves with their smartphones while we asked the questions and listened to their answers via online video conference.
For the second edition of the "Dialogue for the Future 2021" conference, our task was to briefly and concisely introduce the speakers and their topics at the online conference. Since filming on location was not possible due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, we agreed with the client to create entertaining social media ads using animations and photo material. The challenge was to find an animation style that conveyed the necessary information but also looked modern and attractive.
The first step was to work out the key messages in consultation with our concept developer Vanouch and the various speakers and workshop leaders. Suitable photo portraits were also selected. Thanks to specific instructions, it was no problem for our subjects and us to record the short statements for the social media ads remotely with a recording device. Thank goodness for digitalisation! A first "blueprint" (reference animation film) was graphically designed and then animated by our animation designer Mark. Based on this, the eight other short portraits were then developed.
The video portraits and social media ads were successfully used for the Dialogue for the Future 2020 and 2021 social media campaign on Facebook and Instagram and the conference website to attract participants to the online event.
In order to capture the actual conference, our film crew was on site in 2020, 2022 and 2023 and produced an event film for our client each year.
Typo animation, portraits and event films are excellent formats for presenting products and services effectively and entertainingly on social media and getting participants excited about a project.
