Phase 1: Briefing and brainstorming

The German Sustainable Business Association (BNW) is a network of companies that are committed to promoting a sustainable and future-proof economy. The association supports companies that develop innovative and sustainable solutions and are committed to social responsibility. By sharing best practices, promoting cooperation and representing political interests, the BNW aims to drive positive change towards a green, social and digital economy.

We at Die Gruene Filmagentur are members ourselves and also supported the important work and values of the association on a voluntary basis by producing social media content. The theme of the 2024 annual conference was ‘Natural Capital as an Economic Factor’, with presentations, discussions and workshops providing impetus for a sustainable economy that recognises nature as an indispensable factor and actively protects it. The event brought together experts, companies and political stakeholders to discuss the economic importance of natural resources and ecosystem services.

Together with the BNW, we held an initial kick-off meeting to discuss what content was needed and how the day of filming could be used as efficiently as possible, as many key players would be on site in Berlin. In addition to an event trailer with short statements from speakers, further social media snippets were to be created on the topics of natural capital, corporate political responsibility (CPR) and BNW members.

Phase 2: Concept development

In collaboration with the BNW communications team, we created a detailed shooting schedule and list of questions for the conference, precisely tailored to the planned daily programme.
The event trailer was intended to present the event's atmosphere and content on various social media channels. For the three shorter video snippets, short interview formats were planned with personalities from business and politics and BNW members who would comment on the various topics. The videos were to be designed to be both informative and appealing to the BNW's target groups on social media.

Phase 3: Production

The filming on location in Berlin was carried out by a team consisting of director, camera and camera assistant. For the interviews, we set up a small film studio on site at the event in the BNW's corporate colours with a green background. We also used energy-saving LED lighting technology to ensure a professionally illuminated and aesthetic lighting set-up. In addition to the interviews, atmospheric recordings were made of the presentations and workshops during the event, capturing the mood and dynamics of the conference. The films were shot using a professional 12K film camera with cine zoom lenses.

The production process for all films was carried out with comprehensive consideration of social, economic and ecological sustainability.

Phase 4: Postproduction

In the first step, we worked with the BNW communications team to select the interviews conducted via our digital feedback platform. The selection process then continued in the editing room with our editor Martin. First, the event trailer was edited, followed by the other video snippets.

Based on the existing corporate design of the BNW, captions with the names and roles of the interviewees were created and animated to provide the films with all the necessary information and give them a professional look. Several feedback loops with the BNW communications team ensured that the trailers and film snippets met the set requirements in terms of both content and visuals and conveyed the core messages clearly and appealingly.

The finalised film snippets were then adapted to the 9:16 aspect ratio for publication on social media by 16:9 and published on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and the BNW website.
